Turning Point Turning Point Ministries
Small-Group Curriculum and Training for the Local Church

What is Turning Point?
Turning Point, producers of the Living Free small-group training, endeavors to provide Christ-centered small-group training and focused discipleship curriculum through local churches to help people turn to God and His resources when dealing with life's problems.  The materials are Bible-based, Christ-centered and designed to benefit all church members, challenging them to examine their own lives and equpping them to reach their communities by addressing the heart-felt needs of the people.  For more information, visit www.turningpointministries.org.

What is Turning Point's connection to Teen Challenge?
Many Teen Challenge centers are using Turning Point curriculum as part of their programs.  Turning Point was conceived in the heart of Dr. Jimmy Ray Lee, an early Teen Challenge pioneer when he saw the need for the local church to be ministering to the addictive society in which we live.  Teen Challenge of Kentucky Executive Director, Clayton Arp, is a Turning Point Trainer, conducting Living Free Seminars to train local churches and communities to minister to those with life-controlling problems.  To schedule a training in your area or to find a Turning Point group near you, call Clayton Arp at 502/541-9478.

A Message from our State Director about Turning Point

Even if you already are doing small groups, the Turning Point training is excellent in helping hurting people! Living Free, the training for establishing a Turning Point ministry in your church, is a very simple concept, not unlike a cell group or home fellowship in many ways. Yet, this training provides a model and curriculum for relationally focused discipleship in a small group. Living Free does not replace a home group or congregational celebration, but provides a unique small group setting for trust, affirmation, mutuality, and accountability.

I believe that Living Free will intensify your discipleship process and also give you an opportunity to provide an outreach to the world through Christ-centered small groups. Living Free is taught by a seminar, and I train others to teach it as well. The pastor’s counseling load will be greatly reduced when felt-needs are met through a caring, small group.

Our society really depends on small groups for support, especially our court system. So, as a faith-based community, we need to offer Christ-centered groups! The seminar is excellent training on helping people overcome life-controlling problems using the Living Free small group model. The training helps to eliminate many of the pitfalls of lay-lead groups.

If you want more information about Turning Point training and the help you need to make your church an effective ministry center, call me at (502) 541-9478. -- Rev. V. Clayton Arp, certified Turning Point Trainer.

Establishing a Turning Point ministry in your town is a vital part of laying the groundwork for the Lifeline Program.
Rev. Chris Wooley, director of missions and ministries at New Covenant Church in Paducah, credits Turning Point for helping churches understand how powerful Christ-based recovery can be. “Our heart was to do a Lifeline, but you’ve got to get it working in the churches first. If you can get pastors understanding it, working with their own people, you’ll build a base of support. We’ve now got 10 people who really know what Teen Challenge is all about,” said Wooley. “Now let's take it and get it started outside the church."
